On Sunday, December 17, 2023, at approximately 7:47 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash between a sedan and a pick-up truck in the 3800 block of E SH 71 WB (at 130 Toll Road). A preliminary investigation revealed that both vehicles were traveling west on SH 71 approaching 130 (Toll Road). The pick-up truck was in the left lane and the sedan in either the center lane or right lane, when for unknown reasons, the sedan turned left in front of the truck.  As a result, the sedan was struck in the driver’s door by the truck. The driver of the sedan was taken to a local hospital, where she later died on January 7, 2024.   This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 90th fatal crash of 2023, resulting in 94 fatalities for the year. On the date of this crash in 2022, 110 fatal crashes resulted in 115 deaths.

On Saturday, December 30, 2023, at approximately 11:36 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a single vehicle crash in the 8400 block of Research Boulevard Service Road SB. Both the driver and passenger died on the scene. The driver of the vehicle was later identified as Omar Vasquez Sanchez.  First responders said a vehicle caught fire in north Austin following a collision Saturday just before noon. Austin-Travis County EMS said a vehicle hit a fixed object and caught fire with two people inside. The two died at the scene.

On Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at approximately 1:33 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash involving two vehicles and a bicycle in the 5600 block of East Parmer Lane. The bicyclist, who was later identified as Ashton Hutchison, died on the scene. One of the drivers remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. The other driver left the scene but was later arrested. He has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and failure to stop and render aid.

On Monday, December 11, 2023, at approximately 9:37 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash between a sedan and a CapMetro bus in the 2700 block of East Highway 71 Westbound. All occupants from the sedan were transported to a local hospital where one of the passengers, who was later identified as Susana Barnes, died. The CapMetro bus driver was also transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The victim, who was later identified as Burt Nomura, died at the scene. The driver of the vehicle left the scene without stopping to render aid.

When officers arrived, they discovered that the driver of the pickup truck, later identified as Sara Jo Gamond, had died at the scene. The driver of the trailer truck remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

When officers arrived, they discovered that one of the passengers, later identified as Byron Gutierrez-Rodriguez, had died at the scene. The driver of the vehicle and another passenger were examined by the Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Service (ATCEMS), but both declined transportation to a hospital.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured and was arrested for DWI.

The Austin Police Department is investigating a single-vehicle crash that happened on MoPac last week and left a woman dead.  According to APD, officers responded to the crash in the 9500 block of the MoPac Expressway around 1:45 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9. According to police, Taylor Courtney, 29, was driving south when she crashed into a concrete median. She was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle, APD said. Courtney was taken to a hospital where she later died.

The unidentified pedestrian died on scene. The suspect driver of the vehicle, Atira O’Guinn, drove away from the scene. On Saturday, October 28, O’Guinn was arrested and charged with Accident Involving Death, a 2nd Degree Felony.

On Sunday, October 29, 2023, Diaz George was arrested. He is charged with Failure to Stop and Render Aid.  On Sunday, October 22, 2023, at approximately 5:03 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash between a vehicle and an unidentified pedestrian in the 700 block of E Braker Ln.  However, upon arrival, the officers were unable to find the vehicle involved in the incident.

The driver of the sedan was hit outside the vehicle and died on the scene. The pick-up truck driver was not injured, remained on scene, and cooperated with the investigation.  This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 72nd fatal crash of 2023, resulting in 75 fatalities for the year. On the date of this crash in 2022, 85 fatal crashes resulted in 87 deaths.

The Austin Police Department is investigating a deadly crash that occurred in east Austin last week, the agency said in a news release Tuesday.  At approximately 6:20 a.m., Oct. 12, officers responded to a crash involving a pickup truck, a sedan and a pedestrian in the 1100 block of Airport Boulevard, the release said. Both drivers remained on the scene and cooperated with police.  The pedestrian, who was not identified Tuesday, was pronounced dead by Austin-Travis County EMS, according to police.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department is searching for two persons of interest in connection with a deadly crash that left an active duty soldier dead back in October, APD said in a news release. Shortly after 3 a.m., Oct. 8, officers responded to the crash in the 2200 block of East Seventh Street, the release said. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a woman dead. That woman was later identified as Migle Kungyte, 28. Surveillance video obtained by investigators showed two persons of interest who may have more information about the “tragic incident,” as well as the vehicle that may be involved, according to police.   Anyone with any information should contact the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling (512) 472-8477 (TIPS). On Saturday, September 30, 2023, at approximately 5:32 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a single-vehicle crash in the 1000 block of Old Bastrop Highway NB. The driver, Angel Javier Parra, was taken to a local hospital and later died.  This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 69th fatal crash of 2023, resulting in 72 fatalities for the year. On the date of this crash in 2022, 80 fatal crashes resulted in 82 deaths.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department arrested a man they believe shot and killed a 46-year-old woman in a “road rage homicide” on Sept. 30. Justin Justice, 28, was charged in connection with the incident, according to police.   Homicide Detective Israel Pina with the Austin Police Department said the victim, Teressa Gandy Ferguson was taking her usual route home on Interstate 35, when she was involved in a “minor crash” between the Rundberg and Anderson Lane exits.

According to APD, she was on the phone with a friend and told them she pulled over to exchange information with the other driver, which is when police believe she was shot. Ferguson was found in the driver’s seat with injuries that were not believed to be sustained in the crash.  Police were able to determine Justice shot and killed Ferguson.  Members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force (LSFTF) obtained information that Justice was “known to frequent north Austin,” and he later ran away from LSFTF in Round Rock, the U.S. Marshals said.  Justice was booked into the Travis County Jail on a first-degree murder charge and a $250,000 bond, according to police.

On Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at approximately 1:05 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash between a sedan and a construction truck in the 2900 block of south Mopac Expressway SB. A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the sedan, Javier Graves, crashed into the back of the construction truck. Graves was taken to a hospital, where he later died. The construction truck driver was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 68th fatal crash of 2023, resulting in 71 fatalities for the year.  On the date of this crash in 2022, 78 fatal crashes resulted in 80 deaths.

Austin Police said a pickup truck driver involved in a fatal motorcycle crash on Mopac over the weekend left the scene. The crash happened Saturday around 9:45 p.m. on the Mopac Expressway southbound. Police said a pickup truck crashed into a guard rail, which sent debris across the road. A motorcycle driving southbound hit the debris, leading the motorcycle to fall.  APD said the motorcyclist fell onto the road, and a different pickup truck hit the motorcyclist. This truck driver left the scene without stopping. Austin-Travis County EMS said the person died at the scene. APD said the motorcyclist who died is unidentified.  An investigation is ongoing. This is Austin’s 64th fatal crash this year, according to APD.

The Austin Police Department is investigating a crash in Del Valle that left one person dead last week, APD said in a news release Tuesday.  Shortly before 9:15 p.m., Sept. 6, officers responded to a crash between an SUV and a pedestrian in the 3100 block of East SH 71 in the westbound lanes in Del Valle, according to police. The pedestrian, who remained unidentified as of Tuesday, died at the scene, the release said.  The driver of the SUV remained on the scene and was later taken to the hospital to be evaluated for possible injuries, according to police. The driver was not impaired and was cooperating with the investigation, the release said.

On Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at approximately 9:47 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a three-vehicle crash in the 8200 block of Burnet Road. A preliminary investigation revealed that an SUV driven by Nathan Baker ran the red light and hit a Capital Metro bus, a utility pole, and a parked vehicle. Mr. Baker was taken to a local hospital, where he later died on August 7. No other injuries were reported as a result of the crash.  This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 56th fatal crash of 2023, resulting in 59 fatalities for the year. On the date of this crash in 2022, 62 fatal crashes resulted in 63 deaths.

On Sunday, July 30, 2023, at approximately 1:19 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcyclist at the US 183 NB TO SH 45 EB Ramp. Brandon Robinson was on a motorcycle when he crashed into a wall. Robinson died at the scene.

On Sunday, July 30, 2023, at 2:32 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash between a driver of a sedan and an SUV in the 4700 Block of S IH 35 SVRD SB. Four people in the SUV died at the scene. A fifth person was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the sedan, Arthur Wright, left the scene on foot immediately after the crash. Officers were able to find and arrest him a short time later. Wright is charged with four counts of Intoxication Manslaughter and four counts of Failure to Stop and Render Aid.  ATCEMS: 4 dead following rollover collision in south Austin | KXAN AustinAccording to Austin Police, officers responded to a crash between a driver of a sedan and an SUV in the area.  According to an arrest affidavit, one of the vehicles rolled over and was engulfed in flames.  APD said four people in the SUV died at the scene, and a fifth person was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. APD said the driver of the sedan, later identified as Wright, ran from the scene immediately after the crash; however, officers were able to find and arrest him a short time later.

On Friday, June 30, 2023, at approximately 5:03 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers, Austin Fire Department (AFD), and Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS) responded to a crash between an on-duty officer in a marked APD patrol unit and another vehicle in the 13000 block of US HWY N 183 NB. The other vehicle’s driver, Maria Casillas Reyes, died on the scene. APD officer Alyssa Preuss was taken to a local hospital by paramedics with injuries. The officer has since been released. (UPDATE:  Two sisters are suing the City of Austin and an Austin Police officer after a crash killed their mom. Reyes’ daughters, Ana and Breana Casillas, filed a vehicle collision and wrongful death lawsuit and are seeking $1 million in damages.)

On Friday, March 31, 2023, at approximately 5:14 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash between a two-door car and an SUV in the 2900 block of IH 35 North Upper Deck South Bound.  UPDATE (May 10, 2024): According to Travis County court documents, 26-year-old Milton Castanon-Villatoro pleaded guilty to intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle and accident involving death and was given seven years in prison for each charge.  A preliminary investigation shows that the car’s driver, Milton Castanon Villatoro, crashed into the SUV, leaving the scene without rendering aid or calling 911. The SUV driver, Elias Saenz, was taken to a hospital and later died.  Castanon was located and arrested for Intoxication Assault and Fail to Stop and Render Aid.

Castillo-Hortelano is charged with two Second Degree Felonies; Manslaughter, and Racing on a Highway Causing Death.  On Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at approximately 12:08 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash between a two-door car and a sedan in the 4200 block of Ed Bluestein Boulevard SVRD NB. The driver of the sedan, Denise Maxine Cunningham, died at the scene. The driver and passenger of the two-door car were taken to the hospital for injuries.

On Saturday, February 4, 2023, at approximately 4:24 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) 9-1-1 operators received a call reporting a crash between an SUV and sedan at the intersection of North Meadows Drive and Newmont Drive. A preliminary investigation revealed that after the initial impact, the SUV kept going and crashed into two pickup trucks parked in a nearby duplex. A child, Maria Monserrat Dubon-Nava, was walking in between the two parked trucks when she was struck. Dubon-Nava died at the scene. The driver of the SUV, Miguel Diaz, initially left the scene of the crash but later returned. Diaz was arrested for an Accident Involving Injury- 2nd Degree Felony. The driver of the sedan involved in the first crash also left the scene.

A passenger in the car with Mondragon Mercado was taken to a hospital, where the unidentified person died a short time later. Mondragon Mercado was arrested for Intoxicated Manslaughter. The passenger was not identified by police.  Mondragon Mercado was arrested for intoxicated manslaughter, the release said.

December 28, 2023 – Travis County (52) —   One person died Thursday after a crash involving a motorcycle near Del Valle High School, according to Austin-Travis County EMS. ATCEMS said on social media at 11:23 a.m. medics pronounced one adult dead on the scene of a crash at 5100 Ross Road, which is near the high school. (94)

December 25, 2023 – Travis County (51) —   The Texas Department of Public Safety is asking for details from the public about the driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash on Christmas night. The agency said one pedestrian was killed.  According to DPS, the crash happened Monday at about 11:51 p.m. on State Highway 71 westbound near the intersection of Paleface Ranch Road. That location is in western Travis County.  Based on evidence at the scene, DPS said the male pedestrian was possibly hit by a 1994 to 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup. The driver of the truck failed to stop and provide help to the pedestrian, according to DPS, and is now being sought for questioning. (93)

December 22, 2023 – Travis County (50) —   A person died Friday afternoon and another person has critical, life-threatening injuries following a single-vehicle rollover crash in southeastern Travis County, according to Austin-Travis County EMS.   ATCEMS said there were four patients involved, and three ambulances were called to the scene, according to ATCEMS.  Officials responded to the 11200 block of South State Highway 130 service road at approximately 1 p.m. in connection with a vehicle rescue. December 10, 2023 – Travis County (49) —   One person died following a crash between a semi-truck and a vehicle on FM 969 Sunday morning.  Austin-Travis County EMS shared on social media the agency was responding to a vehicle rescue at 11000 FM 969 around 10:20 Sunday. That’s near the intersection of Blue Bluff Road and FM 969.  Officials said two patients were involved in the crash, with one adult patient dead. In a follow-up social media post, ATCEMS said a second patient had been transported to Dell Seton Medical Center with potentially serious injuries. (91)

December 9, 2023 – Bastrop County – An Austin man was killed following an alleged intoxicated driver accident at around 9:19 p.m. along F.M. 812. Authorities reported that the fatal collision happened half a mile west of the intersection of Farm-to-Market 812 and Highway 21.   Officials said in their statements that a 31-year-old Austin man was driving a Kia Rio northwest along F.M. 812. While doing so, an oncoming Chevy Silverado apparently crossed left of center and crashed head-on into the Kia.  Due to the collision, the Austin man sustained fatal injuries. A teenager in the Kia and the driver of the Silverado may have had minor injuries, police say. Authorities say they arrested the Chevy driver for intoxication manslaughter due to the driver allegedly being under the influence of alcohol. (90)

December 7, 2023 – Travis County (48) —  One person died and others were injured following a crash on Loop 360/Capital of Texas Highway Thursday. Austin-Travis County EMS posted about the crash at 1:05 p.m. and said at least four patients were involved. It happened in the southbound lanes of the highway near Stoneridge Road.  Originally, ATCEMS said a patient was pinned and being extricated, then said in an update the patient had been extricated and was being treated. The other three people were declared trauma alerts.    The three other patients were being treated and prepared to be taken to hospitals as of 1:09 p.m. (89)

December 3, 2023 – Llano County, — One person was killed and two were injured after a car accident at around 2:08 a.m. on Highway 71.  The crash occurred near the intersection of County Road 305.  Police say that a Chevy Colorado was driving the wrong direction, westbound into eastbound traffic. As a result, the two vehicles collided with each other.  Due to the collision, a 21-year-old in the vehicle sustained fatal injuries.  Authorities allege that driver admitted to drinking and was deemed to be under the influence of alcohol when the crash occurred. Charges for intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault were recommended.

December 3, 2023 – Travis County (44, 45, 46, 47) — A deadly crash in southeastern Travis County Sunday afternoon killed four people.  The crash happened near the State Highway 130 Northbound service road intersection with Maha Loop Road.  ATCEMS tweeted about the crash at 4:24 p.m. and said five people were pinned in their vehicles with multiple ambulances and commanders responding, in addition to two STARFlight helicopters.  The emergency services employee said numerous calls came in regarding a large commercial vehicle striking a sedan.  “The sedan was catching fire with numerous occupants,” they said.  According to the Texas DPS, a driver and four passengers had been driving east on Maha Loop Road at the same time a Peterbilt dump truck drove north. The two crashed in the intersection. DPS said one person in the passenger vehicle was flown to a hospital and the other four died on scene. Previous crashes:   When taking a wider look, Texas Department of Transportation data showed 438 crashes in all of SH 130 in the last five years. (85, 86, 87, 88)

December 3, 2023 – San Marcos  — A woman died Saturday evening in San Marcos following an incident involving an 18-wheeler, according to the San Marcos Police Department. The incident occurred before 6:30 p.m. on Interstate 35 near the Aquarena Springs exit. Police said a preliminary investigation suggested the woman was “stowed away on the exterior of the 18-wheeler.”  SMPD said the woman attempted to get off while the vehicle was stopped in traffic and slipped, and she was run over by the 18-wheeler as it began to move.  As of Sunday morning, the woman was not identified, but police said she was traveling into Central Texas from the Rio Grande Valley with a man who left the scene before officials arrived.  “No criminal charges are expected to be filed as a result of this collision,” SMPD said.  This incident was the 15th crash investigated by SMPD’s Collision Investigation Team in 2023, according to police. November 22, 2023 – Blanco County  —   Two children and two adults were killed following a crash in Blanco County, Texas DPS said.  The CEO of a North Texas construction firm and his two children were killed in a crash in Blanco County while they were on their way to visit family for Thanksgiving, according to company officials and media reports.  Muckleroy & Falls in Fort Worth said they are “heartbroken” about the passing of Zach Muckleroy and his two children, Judson and Lindsay. His wife, Lauren, was the only survivor in their vehicle and the driver of the Tacoma died after being taken to a medical facility.   DPS said on Nov. 22, around 7:15 p.m., troopers responded to a deadly crash on US 281 near mile marker 460. A Toyota Tacoma was traveling northbound on US 281 while a Chevrolet SUV was traveling south, followed by a Nissan Versa.  DPS says that for a currently unknown reason, the Toyota traveled across the solid double yellow line into the southbound lanes and struck the Chevrolet. The Nissan then struck the Chevrolet and rolled.   As a result of the crash, a man and two children in the Chevrolet were pronounced dead at the scene, with only the driver surviving. The driver of the Toyota was transported to a medical facility where he later died from his injuries. The driver of the Nissan was released and left the scene.  The Blanco County Sheriff’s Office, EMS, and Fire Department along with Marble Falls PD assisted at the scene. (80, 81, 82, 83)

November 22, 2023 – Blanco County  —   The Burnet County Sheriff’s Office is assisting with traffic control following a fatal crash on U.S. Hwy. 281 in Blanco County, just south of Burnet County. Officials said in a Facebook post just after 8 p.m. Wednesday traffic is extremely delayed in the area. As of 8 p.m., there was no ETA on when the roads would be cleared. (79)

November 18, 2023 – Leander  —   A motorcyclist is dead after he was hit by a car on US Highway 183 in Leander on Saturday afternoon, according to the Leander Police Department.  Police said the crash happened between a motorcycle and a Kia car on US 183 north of Huddleston Road around 2:16 p.m. LPD said the driver of the Kia hit the motorcycle and left the scene.  LPD said a man, who was identified as the motorcycle rider, died at the scene. Based on witness information, Leander police identified the vehicle involved and found the Kia driver in Liberty Hill. Police identified the driver as Robert Corral, 29. Corral was arrested for leaving the scene of a fatal collision and taken to the Williamson County Jail, according to LPD.  (78)

November 18, 2023 – Leander —   The Leander Police Department said a woman died after she was struck by a CapMetro train. The crash happened Saturday near US Highway 183 between Sonny Drive and Farm-to-Market Road 2243. Around noon, police received a report of a train-pedestrian collision.  Police said officers found an unknown female dead at the scene, and they believe she was crossing the railroad bridge when the train hit her. LPD said the only people on board the train were the engineer and conductor.   Leander police said investigators are trying to identify the woman to notify next of kin. (77)

November 15, 2023 – Travis County (43) —   A deadly crash shut down eastbound Highway 71 near the Austin airport for several hours Wednesday morning.  The crash happened around 6 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Hwy 71 near its intersection with Highway 183. (76)

November 12, 2023 – Leander —   The Leander Police Department provided more details involving a retired Austin Police officer who died in a crash in Leander over the weekend. At approximately 11:50 a.m., Nov. 12, officers responded to the 8600 block of Ranch-to-Market Road 2243 for a report of a rollover crash, according to a news release from LPD.  According to police, a Ford Excursion driving westbound “had a mechanical/tire related issue and crossed the double yellow center lane divider,” which struck a Chevrolet Silverado head-on. The Silverado then rolled off the roadway  The retired officer was identified as Ray Shillito Jr., 51, of Austin, according to police.  Shillito had recently retired from APD and was working with the City of Austin Development Services Department, according to LPD. November 5, 2023 – Travis County (42) —   One person died Sunday morning following a serious collision in southeastern Travis County.  The Travis County Sheriff’s Office said it was responding to the crash around 6:45 am, which happened on Farm-to-Market Road 812 near Circuit of the Americas Boulevard.  According to EMS, one person died at the scene, a child was taken to the hospital with potentially serious injuries, and another person refused transport.  Later, a man was arrested on a charge of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle, a second-degree felony, in connection with the crash.  According to an arrest affidavit, 24-year-old Maximiliano Hernandez Cervantes was arrested Sunday in the death of 39-year-old Nerelda Bueno-Figueroa. Documents said Hernandez’s vehicle caused a crash in the 12900 block of FM 812 by failing to drive in a single lane before driving on the wrong side of the road in a no-passing zone.  When speaking with law enforcement, Hernandez’s breath had a “strong odor of a metabolized alcoholic beverage,” according to the affidavit.  Documents said there were containers of alcohol inside Hernandez’s vehicle as well as empty containers of alcoholic beverages outside of the vehicle that matched the type found inside. October 23, 2023 – Travis County (41) —  Austin-Travis County EMS confirmed one person died following a two-vehicle crash along State Highway 130’s southbound service road Monday afternoon.   ATCEMS responded to the blocks of 10638-11106 South SH 130 service road, near Maha Loop, shortly before 1:30 p.m. Monday. Medics attempted CPR on one adult patient, who ultimately died at the scene. Two additional patients were evaluated for minor injuries before refusing to be taken to the hospital by medics, ATCEMS noted. (73)

Texas DPS searching for car involved in street racing incident that left one dead | KEYEOctober 22, 2023 – Travis County (40) — Austin-Travis County EMS responded to a fatal crash in northwest Austin that left one person dead and another person injured. ATCEMS responded to the intersection of Corpus Christi Drive and West Parmer Lane just before 3:40 p.m. Sunday afternoon. There, medics found a two-vehicle collision that killed one adult.  A second person was taken to St. David’s North Austin Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, officials noted.

 

October 22, 2023 – Travis County (39) —   Austin-Travis County EMS officials responded a fatal crash at the intersection on State Highway 130 frontage road and Gregg Manor Road at 9:37 a.m. on Sunday.  On Sunday, ATCEMS said medics received another “deceased on-scene” pronouncement for an adult patient.  DPS troopers responded to Sunday’s crash, with preliminary findings revealing an 18-year-old male was heading northbound on SH 130’s service road.  That portion of the roadway turns into a dead end, DPS officials said.   “The vehicle traveled pass the dead end and continued into a construction site where it crashed. As a result of the crash, the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.” the spokesperson said. (72)

October 21, 2023 – Travis County (38) —     A fatal crash occurred at the intersection on State Highway 130 frontage road and Gregg Manor Road at 3:24 p.m. Saturday  and was initiated as a vehicle rescue. ATCEMS and Travis County ESD 12 responded to the two-vehicle collision with three patients involved.  Medics later obtained a “deceased on scene” pronouncement for an adult patient, and Travis County STAR Flight took one adult patient to the hospital with serious injuries, according to ATCEMS. Medics also took another adult patient to the hospital with potentially serious injuries. (71)

October 7, 2023 – Round Rock — Round Rock Police posted on social media Saturday morning that officers are responding to a single-vehicle motorcycle fatality at the 1800 block of County Road 122 in Round Rock. (70)

September 24, 2023 – Travis County (37) —  One person died Saturday evening after a vehicle struck a pedestrian in southeastern Travis County, according to Austin-Travis County EMS. Officials responded to the incident at 10:48 p.m. near the 4500-6000 block of South State Highway 45.  ATCEMS medics at the scene obtained a “deceased on scene pronouncement” for an adult. (69)

September 24, 2023 – Round Rock —   One person died after an auto-pedestrian crash on Interstate 35 in Round Rock overnight Saturday.  Police said the crash happened on I-35 northbound near the Old Settlers Boulevard exit.   Northbound lanes reopened just before 7 a.m. Saturday, RRPD said.  (68)

September 18, 2023 – San Marcos — Police are investigating an accident involving a motorcycle that killed one person in San Marcos last Monday.  The incident happened in the afternoon on Texas Highway 123 at the exit for Wonder World Drive, which is southeast of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – San Marcos.   Police say that one person died from injuries sustained in the collision. September 17, 2023 – Travis County (36) — A motorcyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle Sunday night in Bee Cave, according to Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services. Authorities with EMS and the Lake Travis Fire Department responded to the call at 8:22 p.m. at 12412 W. Texas 71, where they found the motorcyclist dead at the scene. (66)

September 15, 2023 – Buda — One person died early Friday morning when a wrong-way driver collided with two semis and two passenger vehicles on the interstate.  According to Fox 7 Austin, the incident happened around 4 a.m. on the northbound side of I-35 near Main Street, which is just north of Pinballz Kingdom.  Police say that a southbound driver entered the northbound lanes of I-35 and crashed into two 18-wheelers and two other vehicles.  One person died in the accident. Authorities have not yet named the victim publicly.  The driver of the wrong-way vehicle went to the hospital with non-critical injuries. (65)

September 11, 2023 – Travis County (35) — One person is dead after a crash involving an 18-wheeler and a vehicle southeast of Austin in Travis County on Monday. Shortly after 4 p.m., medics said they responded to a report of a confirmed crash with a vehicle pinned by an 18-wheeler near U.S. Highway 183 and Evelyn Road. Medics said a person was reported to be conscious. Travis County Starflight also responded to the scene, medics said. September 6, 2023 – Travis County — The Texas Department Of Public Safety reported a multi-vehicle accident that occurred on Thursday. The officials confirmed that one person died in the accident. According to the officials, the deceased victim was not identified. Around 9:21 p.m. the crash happened at 3000-3195 E. SH 71 Westbound. The officials have confirmed that a pedestrian and a vehicle were involved in a collision. The events leading up to the crash are not clear at this time. (62)

Records: Man charged with intoxication manslaughter after fatal Travis County crash | KXAN AustinSeptember 2, 2023 – Travis County (34) — According to court records, 30-year-old Salvador Salas was charged with intoxication manslaughter, intoxication assault and failure to identify following a head-on collision that killed 40-year-old Santos Angel Patina and injured another in the 4600 block of East State Highway 71 at 2:46 a.m.  Travis County jail records showed Salas was being held on the three charges with bonds totaling $57,000.    Inside Salas’ vehicle, troopers with the TX DPS reportedly found 2 Modelo Micheladas 24-ounce cans, 1 Bud Light 40-ounce bottle, 2 Budweiser 40-ounce bottles, 2 Budweiser 12-ounce cans and 10 Bud Light cans, according to the affidavit.  (61)

August 28, 2023 – Buda —  A motorcyclist died after colliding with a truck and towing trailer on Farm to Market Road 2770 Monday morning.  According to the TX DPS, the motorcycle was headed north on FM 2770 when a Ford F-150 with a towing trailer driving on Robert S. Light Boulevard pulled out in front of the motorcycle.  The motorcycle hit the trailer, and DPS said the motorcyclist was taken to the hospital where they later died. (60)

August 26, 2023 – Travis County (33) —  The Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services reported a motor vehicle accident in Austin on Saturday night. The accident occurred on East Slaughter Lane, near Bluff Springs Road at around 10:02 p.m.  According to the officials, at least one vehicle was involved in the collision. The events leading up to the collision have not been disclosed at this time.  At least one person was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased victim is not yet known at this time. The officials reported that another adult was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. (59)

August 26, 2023 – Elgin —  One person is dead following a crash off U.S. Highway 290 West in Elgin on Saturday.  The crash happened around 2 p.m. Saturday in the 600 block of U.S. Highway 290 West. Police said there was a head-on collision between a pickup truck and an 18-wheel tractor-trailer in the westbound lanes of the highway.  Witnesses told police the pickup truck was traveling eastbound when it crossed over the center lane into the tractor-trailer’s path.  Eric Hernandez, 23, of Bastrop County was identified as the driver of the pickup truck.  The crash is Elgin’s second traffic fatality this year. LPD said the crash happened around 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of 183A Toll Road frontage road and Hero Way.  Jose Luis Rebollar Osorio, of Liberty Hill, 35, and Avelina Osorio Lopez, of Bertram, 69, were found dead on the scene.  A 38-year-old woman and two children were taken by ambulance to Dell Children’s Hospital due to their injuries, and a 70-year-old man was also taken by ambulance to St. David’s Round Rock with “incapacitating injuries.”  Jose Luis Gonzalez, 32, of Austin was arrested Thursday by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, led by U.S. Marshals for leaving the scene of a vehicular accident.  The Leander Police Department investigated the crash and identified Gonzalez as the driver of the vehicle that fled the scene. August 18, 2023 – Travis County (31, 32) — Two people died after a crash on Bee Caves Road on Friday night, according to Austin-Travis County EMS. Officials said a vehicle rescue call came in at 9:23 p.m. in the 7000 block of Farm-to-Market Road 2244. ATCEMS said it arrived on the scene of a two-vehicle collision with three patients involved.  ATCEMS said two adults were pronounced dead at the scene, and one adult was taken to the hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries. UPDATE: A man was charged with two counts of criminally negligent homicide Aug. 19 in connection with a 2023 fatal crash.  According to Travis County court documents, an arrest warrant was issued for 22-year-old Noah Riley Monks related to the August 2023 deaths of Kitta Kaori, 55, and Segraves Sherrod St. John Cromwell, 55.   Court documents said that according to a toxicology report, Monks had cocaine in his system at the time of the crash. August 12, 2023 – Cedar Park — One person is dead after a single-vehicle crash in Cedar Park Saturday, the Cedar Park Police Department said in a news release.  CPPD responded to the crash in the 1900 block of E. Whitestone Blvd. (FM 1431), the release said.  The driver was identified as Elisa Jean Winters, 18, of Leander, police said. Winters was pronounced dead at the scene. (53)

August 11, 2023 – Travis County (30) — EMS officials say one person was killed Friday morning after a single-vehicle rollover crash in southeast Travis County. It happened in the southbound lanes of the 2000 block of SH 130, just north of the intersection with Hwy 71. Austin-Travis County EMS says an adult was declared dead at around 11:15 a.m. (52)

August 6, 2023 – Travis County (29) — One adult was killed and another suffered potentially serious injuries after a rollover crash Sunday in far west Austin, according to Austin-Travis County EMS. The crash happened at 3210 Hillbilly Lane near Bunny Run, Rivercrest Drive and St. Stephens Episcopal School. ATCEMS posted on social media at 6:20 p.m. saying that one person died at the scene of the crash and that there was a possible ejection. A follow-up post said medics took an adult to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center as a trauma alert with potentially serious injuries.  ATCEMS said it received the call at 5:46 p.m. (51)

August 4, 2023 – Cedar Park — One man died in the hospital earlier this week after a crash in Cedar Park on Aug. 4, the Cedar Park Police Department said in a news release Saturday. On the day of the crash, police responded to the crash between a motorcycle and a pickup truck at the intersection of Brushy Creed Road and Gupton Way, according to CPPD.  The motorcyclist, Nathan Andrew, 53, of Round Rock, was taken to the hospital in critical condition, police said.  On Aug. 9, Andrew died from his injuries, according to CPPD. August 4, 2023 – Travis County (28) — DPS launched an investigation Friday morning after a deadly rollover crash in western Travis County. According to Austin-Travis County EMS, the crash happened around 1:35 a.m. on Lakehurst Road near Happy Hollow. That’s north of Bee Creek Road and Texas Highway 71.  ATCEMS said an adult died at the scene of the crash. The agency said the rollover crash did involve an ejection but had no other details; however, DPS was later able to provide additional information in connection with the crash.  DPS officials said a preliminary investigation indicated a 2004 Jeep Rubicon occupied by only the driver was heading South on Lakehurst Road when the driver failed to negotiate a curve in the road and lost control.  “The Jeep rolled over and ejected the driver. As a result of the crash, the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene,” DPS said. (49)

July 30, 2023 – Travis County (27) — One person has died following a motorcycle crash in northwest Austin Sunday afternoon.  Austin-Travis County EMS said it responded to a crash around 1:19 p.m. Sunday in the 13100 block of North FM 620, near U.S. Hwy. 183. Officials tweeted CPR was in progress but ultimately, the adult patient died at the scene. (48)

July 29, 2023 – Travis County (26) — A man is dead after a vehicle and a motorcyclist collided on Lime Creek Road Saturday night, according to a social media post from Austin-Travis County EMS (ATCEMS).   The crash happened around 7 p.m. after a Suzuki motorcycle going southbound traveled across double yellow lines in the road and struck another vehicle heading northbound, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.  First responders performed CPR on an adult male patient at the scene. However, those efforts were unsuccessful, and the patient died at the scene.  Along with ATCEMS, ESD 14 and STAR Flight responded to the scene.  DPS said an investigation is ongoing. (47)

July 25, 2023 – Caldwell County — Four Prairie Lea ISD students were in a car accident over the weekend that left one student dead. Dominic “DJ” Cubit died after a car accident that happened Sunday afternoon, the district said. Three other students had minor injuries from the crash. The accident happened around 2:30 p.m. Sunday on Stairtown Loop, just west of State Highway 80 in Caldwell County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. (46)

July 23, 2023 – Travis County/Jonestown (25) —One person is dead after a fatal motorcycle crash on FM 1431 is northwest Travis County. ATCEMS and other emergency crews responded to a two-motorcycle crash in Jonestown Sunday morning.  ATCEMS was notified of a crash in the 19400 block of FM 1431 just before 9 a.m. Sunday. (45)

July 19, 2023 – Travis County (24) — Tx DPS said one person died Wednesday after a crash on FM 1327 in Southern Travis County. DPS said troopers responded to the crash around 10:20 a.m. on FM 1327 near Turnersville Road. That is about 1.5 miles east of Interstate 35 near Buda.  According to DPS, the crash involved a vehicle and a pedestrian, who died at the scene.  The driver remained the scene, according to DPS. July 17, 2023 – Travis County (22, 23) — Tx DPS said Tuesday two people died after a crash between a tanker truck and a Chevy Tahoe on State Highway 71 late Monday night.  The crash happened around 11 p.m. in the westbound lanes of 71 near Albert Brown Drive in Garfield in Eastern Travis County. DPS said the Chevy Tahoe was crossing westbound lanes of 71 to go to Albert Brown Drive.  According to DPS, the Tahoe failed to yield right of way to the Mack tanker truck and the truck’s front end hit the Tahoe’s right side.  DPS said both the driver and the passenger of the Chevy Tahoe were pronounced dead the scene.  (42, 43)

July 14, 2023 – Travis County (21) — TX DPS said Friday morning it is investigating a deadly crash on State Highway 45.  Two vehicles crashed on the eastbound lanes of State Highway 45 near Turnersville Road just before 2 a.m.  DPS said that one driver died in a 4-door passenger vehicle that caught fire. ATCEMS said STARFlight transported the other driver to the hospital with critical injuries. DPS said the second vehicle was a Toyota Tundra and the cars collided in the northbound lanes. (41)

July 12, 2023 – Travis County (20) — The southbound lanes of Interstate 35 in far-north Austin have reopened after deadly crash shut them down for several hours early Wednesday morning.  The Texas Department of Public Safety said troopers were called to the scene, which was near Grand Avenue Parkway, around 3:40 a.m. after a Toyota Camry hit a man who was walking on the highway.  The driver stayed on the scene of the crash and is not expected to face charges, DPS said. July 10, 2023 – Travis County (19) — A person died in a rollover crash Monday in southern Travis County, Austin-Travis County EMS said.  ATCEMS said medics responded to the crash just before 5 p.m. at the intersection of Farm to Market Road 1626 and Bliss Spillar Road.  After performing CPR on an adult, medics later declared the person dead at the scene. Medics said there were other people in the vehicle but didn’t say exactly how many. Nobody else needed treatment or to be taken to a hospital, ATCEMS said. (39)

July 7, 2023 – Travis County (18) — Officials said a person died early Friday morning after two vehicles were involved in a collision near the 10100 block of North State Highway 130 heading north near Manor. Two others were also reported with serious injuries, one possibly life-threatening.   The initial callout occurred at 1:20 a.m. for a single vehicle 100 to 200 feet down an embankment. Officials later discovered a second vehicle and identified there were three total patients involved.  ATCEMS said one person was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other two patients were declared trauma alerts. Officials said one of the trauma patients was ejected from a vehicle. The two patients with serious injuries were taken to the hospital for treatment. (38)

July 1, 2023 – Williamson County —Two people are dead after a two-vehicle crash in Williamson County Saturday, said Tx DPS.  At approximately 2:20 p.m., troopers responded to the crash at State Highway 95, half a mile south of Coupland Drive, DPS said.   A Chevrolet pickup, occupied by a man driver, was traveling north on SH 95, DPS said. Then, a Ford F-350, occupied by a woman driver, was traveling south on SH 95. For an unknown reason, the Chevrolet traveled onto the wrong side of the road and struck the Ford, according to DPS.  Both vehicles caught fire, and both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. June 25, 2023 – Travis County (17) —  One adult died in an auto-pedestrian crash in southwest Austin late Saturday night, according to Austin-Travis County EMS.  It happened around 10:30 p.m. near the intersection of State Highway 71 and US 290. (35)

June 24, 2023 – Travis County (15,16) —  A 3-year-old girl and her father, riding on an all-terrain vehicle, died in a hit-and-run accident on Friday, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.  Officials said the incident occurred at approximately 10 p.m. in the 5500 block of Delta Post Drive. That’s in Hornsby Bend, near State Highway 45 and FM 969. Austin-Travis County EMS responded, but DPS is now the investigating agency.  “The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling south on Delta Post Drive when it failed to give one half of the roadway and struck a Kawasaki Brute Force 300 Utility ATV head on,” DPS said. “The driver of the Chevrolet left the scene of the crash.”  The driver is not in custody, according to DPS. June 15, 2023 – Austin —  Medics have pronounced one person dead after a motorcycle crashed with a car on FM 2222 Wednesday morning.  Austin-Travis County EMS tweeted the crash happened around 6:46 a.m. on FM 2222 near Bell Mountain Drive.  One adult was pronounced dead on the scene of the crash. June 14, 2023 – San Marcos —  A man was killed after getting hit twice by two separate vehicles in San Marcos, according to police.  Neither vehicles stopped to render aid in that fatal hit-and-run.  Police said the crash happened last Wednesday before 1:00 a.m. on State Highway 123.  SMPD said 69-year-old Lenard Green Coleman, of Nixon, Texas, was pronounced dead on the scene.  Based on evidence and witness statements, detectives said a delivery truck first hit Coleman. They said the driver did not stop to help him, however they’ve been identified but not charged yet.   SMPD said after that initial crash, a silver SUV came from Ebony Street, turned left on State Highway 123 and hit Coleman.   That driver also did not stop to help.  SMPD said they believe that person lives in the neighborhood where the crash happened. June 14, 2023 – Travis County (14) —  Medics have pronounced one person dead after a motorcycle crashed with a car on FM 2222 Wednesday morning.  Austin-Travis County EMS tweeted the crash happened around 6:46 a.m. on FM 2222 near Bell Mountain Drive.  One adult was pronounced dead on the scene of the crash. June 12, 2023 – Manor (13) —  One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Manor on Tuesday.  Shortly after 9:15 p.m., medics responded to the crash in the 14500 block of N. Farm to Market Road 973, the tweet said. Medics said one person was pinned in their vehicle.  Medics said one adult person, who was not identified Tuesday, was pronounced dead on the scene. No other patients were reported. (29)

June 12, 2023 – Pflugerville (12) —  Northbound State Highway 130 has reopened after being shut down for several hours early Tuesday morning after a person was hit and killed on the road. On Sunday, police said Christian Reyes Vasquez, 30, was the pedestrian killed in the crash.   The area of the crash was just north of East Pflugerville Parkway. (28)

June 2, 2023 – Round Rock —  Round Rock Police said a motorcyclist died early Friday morning following a crash with the driver of a car. Police said the crash happened on Pflugerville Parkway in front of the Hollybrook Ranch Apartments around 2:30 a.m. (27)

May 27, 2023 – Lago Vista (11) —  A motorcyclist died early Saturday morning after a collision in northwest Travis County near Lago Visa. Travis County STAR Flight and the Austin-Travis County EMS both responded to the crash.  ATCEMS said it responded to a single motorcycle crash at 4:12 a.m. in the 19900 block of Boggy Ford. (26)

May 17, 2023 – San Marcos —  On May 17, an auto-pedestrian crash killed a 51-year-old woman, according to the San Marcos Police Department. Denise Sumbling, 51, was walking to work when she was hit by a pickup truck near the intersection of Highway 123 and East Access Road, per preliminary reports from the San Marcos Police Department Collision Investigation Team. The driver of the pickup truck, Daniel Verdin, 66, did not remain on the scene, according to SPMD.  SMPD officers arrived on the scene around 9:45 p.m. on May 17 and pronounced Sumbling dead, a press release said.  While SMPD was investigating the incident, Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office stopped Verdin’s vehicle for speeding. Verdin was arrested on second-degree felony charges, per SMPD.   This was San Marcos’ third fatality collision of 2023. The San Marcos Police Collision Investigation Team said it is continuing its investigation. (25)

May 8, 2023 – Round Rock —  Round Rock Police said Monday a man died after being hit by a vehicle on Saturday night in Round Rock.  According to police, officers were called to East Palm Valley Boulevard just west of A.W. Grimes Boulevard near the HEB around 9:05 p.m. for a report of a man in the road. Police said first responders gave CPR but the man died at the scene.  According to police, a vehicle had hit the man as he was walking. Police said the driver stayed behind and cooperated with them.  Police identified the man who died as Thomas Byrd, 69, from Round Rock. (24)

April 30, 2023 – Travis County (10) —  One person is dead following a collision involving a motorcyclist in Southeast Austin Sunday night. Austin-Travis County EMS responded to the crash at 5100 State Highway 71 at 8:27 p.m. ATCEMS said one person was pronounced deceased on the scene. No other people were reported to be involved in the accident. (23)

April 26, 2023 – Georgetown —  Georgetown Police said a deadly crash shut down a portion of Leander Road near Interstate 35 early Wednesday morning. According to a Georgetown PD post at 4:15 a.m., officers shut down Leander Road between South Ridge Circle and River Ridge Drive because of the deadly crash.  That is just southwest of I-35 and northwest of Inner Space Cavern. April 25, 2023 – Travis County (9) —  A person was hit and killed Tuesday morning in Del Valle on FM 973. The investigation has caused road closures and heavy delays for commuters in the area. Austin-Travis County EMS responded to the crash around 5:30 a.m. and pronounced the person dead on the scene shortly after. It happened between the 2900 block and 3100 block.  The driver of the vehicle that hit the person stayed on the scene.  FM 973 was closed for investigation of the crash, and traffic has spilled onto Hwy 71 and FM 969 as a result of the closure. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, medics said.  Another person was taken by Travis County Star Flight to Dell Seton Medical Center with potentially serious injuries. The remaining three patients were all taken to St. David’s South Austin Medical Care with potentially serious injuries, medics said. (20)

April 21, 2023 – Travis County (7) —  A person was pronounced dead after an early-morning crash on Highway 71 east of Austin Friday.  Austin-Travis County EMS responded to the crash around 6:30 a.m. It happened near Granny Drive on Hwy 71. ATCEMS said a vehicle was pinned and a patient had potentially gone into cardiac arrest.  Around 6:44 a.m., the person was taken out of the vehicle and medics performed CPR, according to ATCEMS. The person was pronounced dead on the scene around 7 a.m. (19)

March 31, 2023 – Travis County (6) —  One life was claimed in a pin-in crash that happened on the 6200 block of Kellam Road Saturday.   The two-vehicle collision occurred before 4:30 a.m., as indicated in a tweet from ATCEMS.   One person was trapped inside a vehicle and able to get out thanks to aid from first responders.  Life-saving measures were conducted on one victim; however, he or she succumbed to injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. March 30, 2023 – Lago Vista (5) —  One person died Thursday after a single-vehicle rollover in Lago Vista, according to Travis County Emergency Services District 1.  According to officials, the rollover occurred at approximately 11 a.m. in the 19000 block of Farm-to-Market 1431. TCESD1 said this was near FM1431 and Adrian Way in the City of Lago Vista.  TCESD1 said the vehicle was occupied by one man. That man was pronounced dead on the scene, according to officials.  (17)

March 16, 2023 – New Braunfels —  A man was arrested and charged with intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury after a person died following a two-vehicle crash in New Braunfels early Thursday at 1:45 a.m. in the 1000 block of FM 306 near Hunter Road.  Police found the two pickup trucks, which collided head-on. The driver of one of the vehicles was identified as 41-year-old Reva Garza, of New Braunfels, and according to police, Garza suffered critical injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead.  NBPD said there were three people in the second vehicle.  The driver of the vehicle, identified as 21-year-old Juan Sebastian Vargas was taken to the Comal County jail, where he was charged. March 11, 2023 – Travis County (4) —  One person was pronounced dead Saturday night after a crash on 12200 County Line Road near Elgin in east Travis County. The crash occurred around 8:45 p.m.  The deceased and one other person were pinned in a vehicle prior to the arrival of first responders. The extricated survivor and three other people were injured in the crash. One of the patients was airlifted by a STAR Flight helicopter to Dell Seton Medical Center with critical, life threatening injuries.  The other three people suffered only minor injuries.  (15)

March 8, 2023 – Travis County (3) — A motorcyclist died after crashing in west Austin Wednesday morning.  Austin-Travis County EMS and the Oak Hill Fire Department responded to the crash shortly after 8 a.m. on Southwest Parkway between Hwy. 71 and Barton Creek Boulevard.  The crash involved a single motorcycle with one patient who was unresponsive when first-responders arrived, according to ATCEMS. The patient was pronounced dead on the scene. (14)

February 27, 2023 – Burnet County —  A 16-year-old boy was killed in a Hays County crash after attempting to avoid hitting a car who went into his lane, troopers said.  Texas DPS said on Feb. 27, around 9:20 p.m., troopers responded to a crash on McGregror Lane near Martin Rd. in Hays County.  Preliminary information revealed a 2007 Highlander, driven by a 16-year-old, was heading north on McGregor Lane. For an unknown reason, another vehicle traveling south on McGregor crossed into the northbound lane in a no passing zone.  In an attempt to avoid being hit, the car driven by the 16-year-old swerved off the road. After swerving off the road, a branch went into the windshield and hit the driver. The 16-year-old was pronounced dead, troopers said. (13)

February 24, 2023 – San Marcos — A San Marcos child died after being hit by a vehicle Friday morning in the Goodnight Middle School parking lot.  The student was 11 years old, the City of San Marcos said.   San Marcos Police responded to the incident at 8:30 am and the school. The driver of the vehicle was identified, and no charges are expected. (12)

February 24, 2023 – Liberty Hill —According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a multi-vehicle accident occurred in Liberty on Thursday. The crash happened about 10 miles south of the Liberty city limits on FM 563 at around 5:25 a.m.   According to the investigators, a 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander, a 2004 GMC Sierra, and a 2016 Ford F-350 Dually were involved in the collision. The officials stated that the driver of the Outlander drifted into the southbound lane of travel and struck the GMC. The Ford driver was following the Sierra pickup and struck Outlander for a second time.  According to the reports, the driver of the Outlander suffered significant injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. February 23, 2023 – Williamson County —   Austin-Travis County EMS said a person died Thursday after a three-vehicle crash in northwest Austin.  ATCEMS said it responded to a vehicle rescue call at 11:16 a.m. in the 12700 block of North FM 620. which is near U.S. Hwy. 183 and Lakeline Mall. (10)

February 22, 2023 – Travis County (2) —   A two-year-old girl has died after a major two-vehicle crash in Del Valle Wednesday, according to the Texas DPS.  At approximately 7:30 p.m., ATCEMS said it and the Austin Fire Department responded to the two-vehicle crash on Farm-to-Market Road 812, southeast of Circuit of the Americas.  According to DPS, a Ford Fusion, occupied by the driver and a two-year-old in a car seat, was stopped in the left lane to turn left into a driveway. A Jeep Grand Cherokee hit the rear of the Ford, DPS said. A Star Flight helicopter also arrived on the scene and transported one child to Dell Children’s Medical Center with critical, life-threatening injuries. February 21, 2023 – Burnet County —  DPS identified three people who died in a Feb. 21 two-vehicle crash in Burnet County. The crash occurred at approximately 3 a.m. at State Highway 71 near East Trail Road.  According to the investigation, a Ford F-350, occupied by the driver and three passengers, was traveling west on SH 71. A Hyundai, occupied by the driver and two passengers, was traveling east on SH 71.  The Ford struck the Hyundai in a head-on collision. As a result of the crash, the driver and two passengers in the Hyundai died. The driver was identified as Matthew Lindsey, 23, of San Antonio; the first passenger was identified as Daniella Harris, 23, of San Antonio; and the last passenger was identified as Spencer Jandreau, 24, of San Antonio. Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to a fatal crash on FM 1431 in Williamson County Thursday afternoon.  According to a report from the department, a woman was driving eastbound on FM 1431 just west of Vista Hills Boulevard when she crossed the double yellow lines into the westbound lane. She hit another car with two women inside.  The driver of the eastbound car was pronounced dead at the scene. The two women in the other car were taken to a local medical facility. (5)

January 24, 2023 – Travis County (1) —  DPS reported single-vehicle fatal crash around 12:30 a.m. near the intersection of SH 130 and Pearce Lane. DPS officials said the crash involved a Chevrolet Corvette and the driver was the only occupant. The Corvette was traveling north on SH 130 when it left the roadway and struck the concrete pillars supporting the Elroy Road overpass, according to DPS.  It’s not clear why the vehicle veered off the road, but DPS reminds drivers to minimize distractions, don’t drive fatigued, don’t drink and drive, obey traffic control devices and always wear your safety belt.  The driver, a man who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead on the scene.  (4)

January 23, 2023 – Round Rock —  One person is dead, and three others were injured after a two-vehicle crash in Round Rock Monday. At approximately 3:20 p.m., EMS responded to the two-vehicle crash in the 1600 block of E. Palm Valley Boulevard. According to police, first responders provided medical aid to one adult woman who was pronounced dead on the scene at 4 p.m.  (3)

January 7, 2023 – Taylor —  The Taylor Police Department is investigating a deadly crash that occurred over the weekend. Police responded to a major collision in the 4300 block of North Main Street Saturday around 11 p.m. According to TPD, a 2016 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling south and crossed into northbound lanes, where it collided head-on with a 2003 GMC Yukon that was driving northbound.  The driver of the Chevrolet was pronounced dead on the scene, and the two occupants of the GMC were transported to a hospital with serious injuries.  Police found open containers of alcoholic beverages in both vehicles, a release said. January 3, 2023 – Bastrop County — The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a deadly crash in Bastrop County Tuesday evening.  According to DPS, the crash was reported just before 10 p.m. on FM 2336 near State Highway 95. That is just north of Camp Swift, or 7 miles north of the City of Bastrop. (1)
